Post subject: Having big problems with DCCNET- Delta Cable - no conn.
I am new to this chat site so if this is a duplicate post, please ignore and just reply with advice. II would appreciate hearing from anyone who has
Vonage
and who lives in the Delta area which is covered by DCCNET. We are
Vonage
customers who in the beginning were very happy, but after one month the connection and the clarity is simply terrible. Is this normal for the Delta area and for us who are using DELTA CABLE. When I phone New Jersey
Vonage
to
Vonage
the connection is great but when I phone local or BC number the connection is so bad, noisy and cuts in and out, I am getting terribly unhappy, please let me know if this is normal or just while DCCNET is upgrading their lines. Thanks for any help.

Nannyof8,
As the problems with DCCNET have to be resolved before laying all the blame on
Vonage
, I decided to reply in this thread instead of:
http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic9023.html
" where this problem initially started.
As you can see, you and I (and other users I suppose) are in limbo.
Xxxxxx,,
At the moment DCCNet is aware of but does not have an estimated time of
correction for this issue you are experiencing. We will add these details to your account for future troubleshooting but at this time are unable to correct issues regarding upload transfer speeds.
Regards,
Shane

decongrav, thanks for email and update. Today Tuesday, DCCNET DOWN most of the day, at least since 6:00 a.m. and it's now 3:00 p.m.!! Also no phone line since Friday, new adapter on it's way from
Vonage
. I ran a
Vonage
Voip
Speed Test (plus others)on Sunday evening and Monday as suggested, here are the results: Your download speed is 2.06 Mbps, Upload speed is 33.6 kbps. Given your current Internet speeds, we estimate that your internet connection can support a max. of (0) simultaneous high quality
Vonage
Voip
connection. QOS 20%. You probably know how to read that better than I. I am using a brand new Toshiba Sat. P30, so I can't blame it onto the equipment. I am also not pointing fingers at
Vonage
, but rather towards my internet provider who has not had the curtesy to email their customers and let them know in advance when they will be working on the lines or system will be down. As of today's date still no email from them to their Internet customers re their down time and lack of upload speed for
Voip
users. When my bill arrives shall I say to them, here is a check for 50% of bill as we have had only 50% of your service, if that!!!!! Yes, I am mad!!! We want a clear and fast
Vonage
line and a constant internet connection, thats why we are paying $40.00 per month, right! Have tried numerous times to submit this posting.

Hi, we received an email from DCCNET GM Larry Boulé last Wednesday, unfortunately we were on the Island so didn't read it until this Sunday, explaining the problems they were having in our area. Yesterday, a young man called from DCCNET and explained the situation again, it was a hardware problem he said, but now everything is back to normal. Anyway, fellow Delta resident, he said I would be getting a credit for the inconvenience regarding my
Voip
connection and the internet down time. I hope you have received the same phone call from them giving you and other customers the credit also. Thanks again for all your help. Pauline

Post subject: Delta cable and vonage do not work that well
I have had
Vonage
for years and delta cable. Delta cable is too slow moving the packets.. I have hated it for years and I am waiting to get Delta cable phone which should be better than
Vonage
. Echoes, lines that cannot be put through, people not hearing me but I can hear them.. all old news as far as I am concerned.. I will change from
Vonage
in a heartbeat as soon as something better is out there.. but because delta cable is the only game in town.. I have to use them.

Hi, well Delta Cable has improved 100% over the past two years we find, they have been upgrading constantly, probably due to its being sold twice now to a Nova Scotia Co. Anyway, my
Vonage
through Delta Cable works great most of the time for local calls, we have the basic package 500 mins. $20.00 per month all of Canada and the States, however for Long Distance we are using the magicjack which if you travel lots it's a no brainer we think, small and purse size. To Germany and UK only 2cents a minute much cheaper than
Vonage
and we call those two countries twice a week because of elderly family members so a 50-60 minute call to Germany is $1.00. Making LD calls through MJ are much clearer, the clarity and quality we find is better than our
Vonage
line which is through Delta Cable. MJ must have a great long distance provider and for only $20.00 per year we cant go wrong. Yes, we have a Seattle area code number and get all of Canada and the States included, so we are covered now, we only use MJ for calling LD of course Canada and the States, it enhances our
Vonage
pacakge. However, we heard about the Delta Cable digital phone system coming out soon and will investigate it at that time. But for us right now its,
Vonage
AND MAGICJACK and we are HAPPY with both.
