hi everybody, i bought a linksys wireless router about 3 weeks ago and i am having a hard time with it and one of my internet video games, broodwar. the problem is; i am able to join other people's games but when i create a game and ask someone to join it gives them the message "the user's latency is too high." my friend said something about me needing to open the port to the game. i am not sure how to do this or anything to do with the router, got any ideas how to fix it? also i noticed before i got the router (when i had a direct connection) i was able to transfer at 130kb/s over aim with my friend. now however i am only able to go at 25kb/s, i am relatively certain it has something to do with the router. thx for any help! |

From you computer browser open http://192.168.1.1. Leave the user name blank and use admin as the password. That will take you to your router setup. You will have to do some reading because since Cisco bought Linksys the routers have new firmware and the setup menus have changed. Navigate through the setup manus and you will find port forwarding. Your network speed should not change much by adding the router, but if you are now using a wireless connection, then that will explain the drop in speed. The closer you are to the router, the strongest the signal. The strongest the signal, faster the speeds. |
