I am having my existing number transfered. Tomorrow is business day 15. Anybody know if I should I call Vonage or my phone company if the number has not been transferred by then?

it took me 2 months to get my # transfered . vonage gave me the run around . i had to pay for 2 phone bills while waiting for the transfer . you cant turn off you original phone until you get it transfered or you will loose the # . so dont be surprised if it takes a long time .

I called them. They told me that they put the LOA on the "wrong pile" and it went to the wrong phone company. They just got it back and sent it to the right company. They told me that it could take another 3 weeks. I **** anout paying 2 bills as well. The rep said that if i wanted to transfer the # then that's what i would have do. I told him that vonage should issue me a months credit. He had to turn it over to his supervisor and he would get back to me. Later that day I got an email from the super telling me he was issuing me $40 credit.
Not too bad, eventhough i would rather have the number, but at least i am not paying 2 bills.

I don't think you will have a problem. Their customer service has been pretty good thus far.

From start to finish, Vonage took over 35 days to get my number transferred. Much more importantly, the day they indicated that they had transferred my number, they had misconfigured it. For the next 2 weeks anyone dialing my number was informed that "it is disconnected and there is no additonal information".

Vonage support said it was my telcos problem and they could not help.
They told me to call my old telco and work it out with them. I did call, but Vonage couldn't have been more wrong.

A half a dozen emails later and Vonage finally adimitted and corrected their misconfiguration without a 'sorry' to be heard anywhere.

Vonage has an excellent system supported by a solid web front end. But if you have to deal with any employee there, they simply don't have a clue and couldn't care less.

It is no surprise to me that the domain name vonagesucks.com is already taken by Vonage. They anticipated providing crappy customer service.

Shockingly my transfer took 7 business days from when they received my letter of authorization to when I could call my number and get through Vonage. I was very surprised since SBC seemed to screw everything up whenever I needed to change anything.
