Thanks Dan,
I can't wait to tell Verizon to take a hike. If this VOIP concept takes off, the POTS pushers are in for a rude awakening...

By the way, how long did it take for your transfer (I assume you had a transfer) to complete. Did your phoe company ever contact you about the switch to another carrier?

My transfer took exactly 10 business days from the day I faxed my form to Vonage.

I also didn't get a call from SBC. I have, however, gotten 4 or 5 calls from SBC since then begging me to come back. I told them, "If you had cared at all about my business for the 12 years I used you, you would still have my business."

My transer went in 7 business days, just as they said it would. My Local phone company never called , just sent me a refund for my pre-paid amount and a bill showing I owed nothing.

Talked to the BIlling Dept today and this is what i was told.
Only 2 ladies are working all the transfers.
They have collected and sorted on LOA's sent in up to Tuesday Aug 12.
This means that any LOAD after Tuesday Aug 12 has not been processed.
The admit they are overwhelmed, but they do not have any other resources at this time. They are training more Tech Reps, but I did not get a confirmation that they 2 Ladies are going to get any more help.

Of course I faxed my LOA on Wed (A Day late - A Dollar short)

I've been trying to transfer my business number for past 5-6weeks.

The problem is compounded by the fact that I use Allegiance telecom, which is a reseller of Verizon, so I can't directly call Verizon, and Allegiance says, "Half the time when the customer switches carrier, we are not notified by Verizon so we keep billing them by mistake"

Great....

And just today, another new problem crept up. My business phone # is no longer functioning and it'll ring and ring and ring.. with no answer.

Bad bad bad... Confused

Does anyone know how long it typically takes before your Vonage dashboard shows that they have recieved your LOA? I faxed mine in a little over 24 hours ago but the status in my dashboard still says "Awaiting Lettter Of Authorization".

Thanks...

My personal experience was that it took more than a month until they acknowledged even receiving my LOA.

Just want everyone to know that I recieved my LOA within 2 days, but it took from 10-15-03 to 12-17-03 for the transfer. Have asked for credit, but have not heard back yet.

PostPosted: Sat Dec 20, 2003 11:07 am    Post subject: The saga of transferring my Verizon phone number to Vonage Reply with quote Back to top

Here is my story,

November 12, 2003 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
November 12, 2003 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
November 24, 2003 Transfer Sent to Carrier

It is now the 20th of December in the year 2003. Verizon has sent me two phone bills for a phone line I have not used since the middle of November. Vonage will not give me credit until my phone number is transferred successfully. They will then see how many business days 20 the transfer has taken and credit me that difference.

Verizon customer service is closed on weekends so that makes it difficult for me to get an answer from Verizon on what is causing the delay for them to release my phone number to Vonage.

Does anyone out there have any advice for me? The holidays are upon us and my relatives, friends and family cannot reach my home number since it has been cut in order to allow my home wiring system to connect through Vonage.

HELP!
