Post subject: Vonage & Novus
Great news for all of us living in Downtown Vancouver Highrises.
Vonage
is now teaming up with Novus to offer discounted internet telephone service paired with the high capacity fibre connection that Novus customers (like me) have come to know and love.
Yet to be seen is how much of a discount we will get from this bundled service (aside from the free installation and free first month, which is pretty standard already).
But what a GREAT team-up, so happy to hear about it.
PS. I've just pointed out a small technical glitch with the new service to the techs at Novus and I'm sure that will be worked out before too many people switch over.
(For the techies out there; the problem is that Novus blocks connections between their customers in the same building as a security feature. After the call is connected
Vonage
phone adapters try to directly connect with each other to transmit voice without having to go through a central server. Because of the Novus block, the call gets connected but then no voice is able to be transmitted. There is a work-around which involves putting a router in front of one of the
Vonage
voice adapters so that the
Vonage
adapter doesn't try to make a direct connection.)
