Everything was working fine about 3 days ago. Suddenly I cannot play my voicemails from my pocket PC anymore. Voicemail format has been changed to CCITT u-Law and I cannot read this format from my Pocket PC. Anybody has a solution to this problem ?

I also found myself suddenly unable to play Vonage voicemail sent as email attachments on my Pocket PC in the last few days Sad . I was very puzzled and frustrated as I depend on this feature for a business. I assumed there was a software corruption on my PPC. Lots of resetting and reinstalling did not resolve the issue. I was SO grateful to see the post explaining that Vonage had changed the .wav encoding format. (Thanks for telling us Vonage.... NOT Evil or Very Mad )

I HAVE A SOLUTION.

The Core Pocket Media Player CAN play the new format of .wav files and it is a free program. Visit http://www.tcpmp.com or http://www.corecodec.org. The software is available for a number of platforms so be sure to download the right one for you. It also seems to have a number of other capabilities as well, which I have yet to try out. Best of all I can play Vonage voice emails again.

Yippee! Very Happy And many thanks for the post identifying the problem, without which I might not have found a resolution.

I talked with Verizon and they verified that the normal wave file is in pca format and truly the Vonage formats are in this ccitt-?? format. I called Vonage and got to level 2 support and he said he has the same problem but the engineers at Vonage don't seem to care to change the format so it will work. He hopes that enough people will call in so that they will address the issue. I tried to download the codec program and got to some developer site. It was real confusing - didn't make it real clear what to download. Then when I tried to download the program it just went to a blank screen. So I guess we all loose that functionality until we can get Vonage to seem to care about all their business customers that need to listen to business voicemail on the road on their pocket pcs.

Try this link, I think it's what you want.

Edit: Hmm, even though that is a direct link to the EXE, it wants to take you to the welcome page. It must be the way the forum URL code works. Try copying this into your browser:
Code:
http://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/369/tcpmp.setup.0.71.exe

I was able to download the program. Now I just need to figure out how to make the default player on the Pocket PC Samsung I-730 I have play wave files on the Codec player versus the Windows media plug-in that comes standard. Thanks for your help!
