Like many others, I was experiencing dropped calls after about 30 min. I found that after a dropped call, I had no dial tone, which usually returned after a moment or two. Recently, after a dropped call, the time of no dial tone was getting longer & longer. The last time this happened I had no dial tone for about 30 min. Getting fed up, I contacted Vonage tech support via email. They initially blamed my ISP, but when I explained that I was not experiencing any internet failure, only phone, they suggested the following:

In response to your email, a lot of times I have noticed that as the adapters get older they start to act a little strange. To fix this we will need to reset it and force it to download just the newest software and settings, instead of patching them on top of each other.
To do this please follow the steps bellow.

1: please make sure you are connected to a PC behind the RT
ie: modem -> RT -> Wireless router -> PC
2: if you aren't connected behind the RT plug your PC into the "PC"
port on the RT and click on the link below
3: click on "Administration"
4: click on "Restore Factory Defaults"
5: select "Yes"
6: click on "Save Settings"
7: click on "OK" when the waring appears
8: when asked to login use
user name: user
password : 7756112
9: the next screen should say "Settings Successful"
10: reply to this email if this does not fix your issue

I followed these instructions & now I have no dial tone whatsoever, nor do I have any lights on the "phone 1 / 2" on the front of the adapter. When looking at the above mentioned web site, it shows my registration as "offline".

Has anyone run into this? Since I'm now waiting on Vonage tech support to reply with resolution, which I'm sure won't be immediate, I thought I'd make this post.

9: the next screen should say "Settings Successful"

I received teh same advice, and tried it. It SHOULD say that, unfortunately, I get "Settings Are Failed!" in bold red letters.

(No dial tone for 8 days, see my other post. Sad )

well, I decided, despite previous experiences, to call tech support on my cell. The tech I got ran me through the basic "reset" & "reboot" procedures with no success. Then...glory be...dial tone! He didn't tell me exactly what he did....or maybe he did & I just couldn't understand him, but now with the physical phone line connected to line 1, I show activity on line 2 on the front of the adapter.

I must say, although I had an extremely difficult time understanding the tech, I did get through to phone support within a few moments & resolved the issue within about 15 min. This is a tremendous improvement over the past tech/service support.
