I have searched the forum and I cannot seem to find the same issue that I am having. I have found others who cannot call FROM their cell phone to thier Vonage line.
Basically, when I try to call either my cell phone or my wife's cell phone from my Vonage line I get a message stating that the number is no longer in service. I am not sure when this started but I do not think that it has always been this way. I will be calling CS but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on this one.
Thanks |

Yes, I have tried with both 10 and 11 digits. I get the same "the number you have dialed has been disconnected" message either way. |

I call both my Cingular Cell and my wife's Verizon cell all the time from my Vonage line. No problems.
Is your cell number new, or transferred from another provider? I've heard reports of Vonage not treating recently transferred numbers perfectly on the forum before. Maybe their points of presence don't get their "phone books" refreshed as often as they should (kinda like an ISP running a non-updated DNS server)??? Just a theory...
If you want to trust me with your cell number, I can try calling it from my Vonage line. PM me if you want me to do this. |

kinda unrelated, but ever notice a lot of SBC pay phones refuse to dial to anything but SBC phone numbers? Almost got in some real hot water there when my cellphone wouldn't work and all we could use was a payphone! Almost every number I tried to call resulted in a...
"please wait while we process your call!!!"
*doot doot dooo*
"We're sorry, we're unable to connect you. Bye!" *refund* |

Have you ever sat on the line after you get the message "the number you have dialed has been disconnected" I had that happening and if I waited about 10 - 20 seconds after the message stopped it would call through. I use Sprint PCS though |

Sorry it took me so long to respond...
I did not transfer the cell numbers, they were assigned to me by Cingular.
NateHoy, I will PM you in a few minutes and you may try calling my cell to see if it works.
I have never stayed on the phone that long after the message, but I could try it after work.
Thanks for the replies. I hope I get this resolved. I just have not had the time to call CS lately. |

Just an update, Jim (I lect you a voice mail and PM'ed you, but I wanted to post it here for others):
I called your cell, and got a very different "number has been disconnected" than I've ever heard before. In any case, I listened through it in case they gave what telco was posting the error, or whatever, and sure enough, the phone started to ring a few moments later. It rang about a half dozen times then I got to your voice mail and left you a message.
That is truly bizarre. |

Thanks again for your help on this.
I will have to give Vonage and/or Cingular a call and see what they say. I will post more info if and when I get it worked out. |

My wife got a "No longer in service" message this morning when calling a Cingular number. Something is definitely up. (or down) |
