Texx,
I went thru the steps.
I did a ipconfig /all with the Vonage modem connected, and with my cable modem connected directly and they both gave me the same DNS Servers.
When I did the nslookup yahoo.com 4.2.2.2, they both gave me the correct information.
The problem still exists however if I set my LAN connection to Obtain DNS Server Name Automatically when connected to my Vonage modem, I still cannot get Web access, nor ping yahoo.com servers.
Only after putting in those Preferred and Alternate DNS names directly will I get connection. |

Back on the topic at hand, after many, many frustrating contacts, I was able to get a manager to issue shipping labels for the return of my two defective routers. So if you're facing any sort of return, some unsolicited advice: 1) Always ask the CS rep if they will pay to return equipment they offer to replace. They're offering "free" replacements that are not, actually free. 2) Don't accept the "we don't issue shipping labels" excuse. Ask to speak to a manager. Tell them that you were not informed that customers were responsible for return charges (see #1), that the policy (up until November 7, 2005) was to issue return shipping labels, and that you feel that it's their responsibility to take care of defective equipment. 3) Complain. I've been unable to get direct contact with anyone responsible for this policy--they seem to not want to hear from customers--but do ask that complaints you make to CS be heard. Be polite, but point out the goodwill they are losing by their stinginess. I switched to Vonage in large part because they're not Qwest or AT&T--it's really a shame that they act like them now. |

hi PTB, there is something called dns proxy on RTP basic setup page, have them disable and save settings, and power cycle the router or the whole network. thats one of the ways to solve dns issues, on RTP .or one can try ipconfig/flushdns on command screen
let us know if this works out!!!!
