It's too LOUD!!

When I'm on the phone, I have to hold the handset away from my ear as it is too load. I cannot stand it.

My adapter is RTP300.

I have called customer service 4 times about this. Every time talked to a different person. Every time, they have adjusted something and told me that they had reduced it. Yet, nothing changes.

What should I do?

Call them again. Have the technician stay with it until you've verified that the volume is where you want it. If he refuses, demand a supervisor.

I have called about 6 times so far complaining about the loudness of the sound I receive.

It is still loud. But, now I get an echo too.

I am afraid to call and complain. I don't want it to get even worse. May be I should be happy with what I have and expect too much!

Try a different phone, and check to see if it has a volume adjustment.

that's ridiculous. it's a simple setting that takes no time to change. it's asinine that it's such a problem, but I can see why considering what some of those morons did to my adapter. but keep trying, evetually you'll have to get someone who knows. believe me, it's worth it. and unfortunately, phone volume isn't the answer.

I believe you that Vonage can adjust the volume. There are phones that have amplifiers on them that could appear to be the same issue. Right? I bought one for my grandfather. He had not talked on a telephone in twenty years because he could not hear. Now, I think most phones have an amplifier.

The same phone was not loud on the regular phone line before I started using Vonage.

Finally, it seems to have been resolved. It is not loud anymore. The last time I called customer service, the person I spoke with reduced the receive gain and it has been OK since (about a week ago).

Before that I called once and the person I spoke with reduced the bandwidth saver setting without telling me! I experienced echo then. I found out that he had done that and changed the bandwidth saver back. The echo went away then. But, it was loud again.

Anyway, I am happy that it seems to be OK now.

My RTP300 is RIDICULOUSLY loud. I think at max volume our ELT560 is as noisy as most speakerphones with it, lol.

The RT31P2 we had was pretty loud too, maybe just as loud.. no idea.. it's kinda funny that it still holds after all the phone wiring!
