The whole reason for placing the motorola device in front of the router is because the motorola device filters your traffic in order to give priority to Voip packets. If you place the device behind the router, it will not be able to tell the difference between Voip traffic and regular internet traffic.

I am wondering out loud, if the device was trying to filter my internet traffic too heavily which was causing all the disruptions to my service. I am going to attempt to place the device behind my router and see what happens. Keep in mind I have still never plugged a phone into the thing. (I'm waiting to get paid, so I can go out and buy a new cordless phone for it)

If your router is wireless, be sure you get a cordless phone that won't interfere with it.

I know for a fact, that 900mhz and 5 ghz phones do not interfere.

I actually use a 2.4ghz panasonic phone for my home phone and it has never interfered with my wifi (I use channel 6 and 11 for wifi)

To verify I just called my home phone from my cell phone while running a speedtest and there was no signal interruption at all.

But to be safe, you should buy a 900mhz or 5 ghz cordless phone, since 802.11b/g runs in the 2.4ghz spectrum.

I'll be buying a 900mhz phone to use with the Vonage thing, unless I decide to just return the blasted thing. Voip is not such a great savings now anyway since the FCC got involved.

Most wireless routers are 2.4 GHz, so avoid those phones. 900 MHz and 5.8 GHz should be fine.

You were going to call customer service. What do they say about it?

I put my phone adapter on my router yesterday. Modem > Router > Adapter. So far I have not seen any bandwidth problems anymore.
