Well, it's a first step. I suspect that you'll eventually end up replacing the VT1005. If so, I'd consider asking for an upgrade to an RTP300, even if it costs a few bucks. |

ok with this set up it makes speed test read all weird but i can download at alomost the same speed - about 50-60KBPS still seems stiff to me but betta than b4 and should it be eating bandwidth all the time or just when the phone is in use. |

It seems clear from another thread that at least some VT1005s do, indeed, use significant bandwidth all the time- see http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic9446.html . What isn't clear is whether it's true for all VT1005s or only for some with defects. |

Does eating bandwidth give me all the fibre, vitamins, and minerals I need as a growing man? With my RTP300 in the mix or without it, my bandwidth stays the same. I would see if you could get a swap. |

No, not that I know of. Some phones may not be the best for compatibilty, but I have used a $200 one and a $4 walgreen special before and they worked the same. |

thanx for that info trowski. well guys it has not even been an hr and it has started eating bandwith. it has takin my dl down by like 150-200 KBPS and is still increasing not as bad as b4 but still a dramatic drop. this is not behind a router anymore i have ordered a wireless one and done away with the wired. What is the business with this?
