I am using the LinkSys router provided by Vonage, RT31P2. It's connected to the Cable company's modem, a Motorola Surfboard SB3100. I've been using 2 of the 3 ethernet ports and one phone line since August this year without any issues.
Beginning 3 days ago, Nov 7, the router began locking up, denying both internet access and phone service. Turning the router and modem off and then on again a minute later corrects the problem, but only temporarily, sometimes 5 minutes later or sometimes 10 hours later it happens again.
The Cable Modem shows power, retrieve, send and online as steady green no matter what state (working or not) the router happens to be in, as well as a flickering "activity" light. (Although it seems to flicker less-so when the router is locked up.)
When the router locks up, the phone "line 1" light extinguishes, but the 1 & 2 ethernet lights remain on and steady, though I always lose ethernet and phone at the same time.
A little help here would be greatly appreciated.

Had similar problem up until Friday of last week. The Router would reset usually when I was on the phone but sometimes when I was not on the phone. My line 1 and 2 lights would come on then off. that was the indication it was resetting. So I called Vonage and asked for a new router. Plugged it in last Friday and resets are no longer an issue. I am having some new issues but they are minor like the wrong time displayed on caller id and sometimes it does not work. and 3way calling was not working. New firmware should fix the CID and 3way was fixed by turning off QoS on the router at the request of Vonage Support. Hope this helps. |
