Since I have problems with outbound transmission, I considered replacing my Linksys BEFSR41 router which I thought was the culprit. So I talked to Vonage tech support about swapping out my Cisco Voip box with the Motorola VT-1000. That made sense to me, one less piece of equipment on my desk and I’d have a router made for this service.
However, here's what they had to say. If I requested the switch, they would cut off my service immediately. Why? I have no clue (it was difficult to understand the tech support person's accent). From what I gathered from him, it would take 4-5 days to ship the router to me. I would be charged $99.95 until they received the Cisco box back. Then they would refund $40.
What a joke. Since the service is almost unusable as is, I considered doing this because I was desperate to solve my outbound transmission problem. However, when I hooked up my Cisco box directly to my cable modem, I still had the problem. That eliminated the Linksys router as the suspect. So now, I’ll talk to Road Runner tech support and see what they have to say. |

CS says the reason for shutting down your account when they send a new ATA is that you cannot have two operating ATAs.
When they program your new ATA and ship, the old one is disabled.
I do not fully understand, but this was the reason I was given, |

it looks like we are folling the trail on the boards. If anyone is reading this and using a NetGear router with out problems. Let us know what your set up is and your success or Non success so maybe we can eliminate the Linksys routers.
Moto...let us know how it goes |

Maybe that's the standard down time now, but I traded my Cisco once for a new Cisco and once for the Moto. I was only down from 4:00 p.m., when they had to pull the plug to activate the new router, until UPS delivered my new device the next day, usually before a full 24 hours lapsed.
I've had the Moto for a while now -- gosh, almost two months, I guess? For us it was the difference between adding a second router for all our computers or not. We are one of the few, I think, who have left the Moto out front the whole time. Behind it is a Linksys 4 port with WAP. We've got four computers on the Linksys and Xbox Live and my notebook on the wireless. Haven't had to reset the system in, gosh, three weeks? We got the Moto right when Comcast did the 3.0 speed bump in our area so I think a lot of our problems with loss of connectivity was from that.
YMMV as always. Good luck!
