Hi, Am on a Business trip to India. I have a cable-internet connection back at my home. After connecting my Voip Adapter (Motorola VT1000) to my cable modem, the Adapter's Power light keeps blinking. The blink is - two blinks and off ,two blinks and off and this continues forever. Am not getting a dial tone in my phone. Does this means that the IP of the Voip Adapter is not being able to be determined? Can anybody pls help me on this. What is the best way to handle this. Also am not connecting the Voip Adapter to my computer. The Phone is connected to the Adapter and the Adapter is connected to the cable modem.
Thanx, Vicky |

What's the make and model of the modem? You said at home it's a cable connection, is it DSL there in India? In that case you may need to enter a DSL username and password before you can get on the network.
2 blinks does indeed mean the device is not taking an IP address. Try powering everything down, bringing up the modem, and then powering up the Vonage device secondly, see if this helps. Try plugging a PC into the modem and see if you can get online that way. If you can get an IP on your computer but not on the MTA, that could mean a defective device, or it could mean an ISP blocking the device based on its MAC address. |

Another thing you should do once you have a computer hooked up is to run a test at www.testyourvoip.com. Post the detailed results. |

Hi Vicky, Any luck on your side? I have the same problem. My motorola modem blinks twice and is off and it keeps repeating, no dial tone.
Will appreciate your reply. Ganesh |
