Post subject: Phone rings can't talk
I have a linksys router (BEFSR41 firmware 1.46) with my PAP behind it. I had put it in the DMZ but then read about forwarding a range of ports:
5060 - 5061 UDP
123-123 UDP
69-69 UDP
10000 - 20000 UDP
This is my current setup. This seemed to alleviate the need to reboot the PAP and the router, but now when the phone rings sometimes we see caller id but cannot talk and cannot hear the party on the other end. Any suggestions?

Just a few questions that may help us find some answers:
What was the problem when you were using the DMZ to connect the adapter? Was taking it off DMZ an attempt to fix this poblem?
Why were you rebooting the adpater and the router?
How are you connected beyond your router? Cable? DSL? (Helps us understand more about where the problem lies.)
Have you tried connecting the PAP directly to the cable or DSL modem? If so, what were the results? (This will help us eliminate the router, port forwarding, DMZ stuff if it isn't the problem.)
Have you checked the fixed your throughput for your cabel or DSL modem? What were the results?
Hopefully with a few more details we can get you through this.
