Post subject: Issue with caller ID date and time inside Motorola SBG900
In an act of due diligence, I made sure to scour the forums to make sure that this one hadn't been covered yet. I just spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Nick @
Vonage
Tech Support (bright guy) and we ran the gamut of solutions before opening a trouble ticket. I'm hoping somebody else has had this one happen to them and maybe the solution is pretty easy.
I've got Comcast for my high speed internet. I've got a Motorola SBG900 wireless router / firewall device on the outside and my Motorola
Vonage
box on the inside.
I've got Radio Shack base station and slave cordless phones.
The caller ID for inbound name and telephone number works fine. However, the date and time of the inbound call isn't appearing on my displays and it's something that my phone can capture. I get "Sun, 12:00 AM" which is the default. It makes it a pain in the...neck...when trying to determine if a call was missed or not.
I poured over the global settings of my phone and we tried everything from setting up the MAC address for the
Vonage
box on a passthrough from the firewall, we fussed around with port 123, enabling and disabling, and nothing worked. He (Nick) hoped that perhaps the Friday night firmware upgrade they're planning might solve the problem.
Has anybody else had a problem getting date / time with this tech configuration or something similar? What was your solution? I've got a moderate level of tech savvy, so if nosing around inside the router or giving commands are necessary, I can manage.
