I can not get a Dial Tone at my ADT unit. And if I connect it, all outher phones stop working. Sad

Any suggestions ?

Same issue here I had to drop the monitoring service they said they needed hard phone line.

Did you wire past the circuit that captures the telephone line.

Also, on some ADT alarm panels, if no voltage is seen (0ff the line) the system will lock out the line. I have a feeling that the alarm is first off your telephone circuit, and may have captured the line.

ADT should wish to help, since keeping you as a customer is #1.

For those of you who have a security system with ADT and wish to continue with Voip there is something that can be done so you can have both. Typically when you switch to Voip you remove your land line thus disabling an alarm system. Here is where the #1 company in the world has worked to protect you anyways. Call me to find out about cellular backup. Cellular backup is typically used as a secondary routing system to send your signal to ADT in the event the phone line is unavailable. This system can be programmed to be the only routing system thus allowing you to not use a standard phone line simply the cell back up and continue with Voip.

I do not believe Cellular backups are necessary, as my system is working fine.

All I did was this:

1. Disconnect the phone company's line from my home at the phone company's box.

2. Disconnect the phone company's line from my ADT box, and connected my home's line to my ADT box:
My ADT box has a "Line" connected to the phone company, and "Extension" connected to the rest of my home. I simply disconnected the "Line" connected to the phone company, and moved my home's "Extension" wires over to the "Line" connection.

Called up ADT, and verified all was being received ok, and it's worked fine ever since, for about a year now with no problems.

Whether or not the system seems to operate fine there are limitations that need to be address via cell back up. Should you have any problems with your ISP or server you can lose your security connection. As well, should you wish to have remote service done to fix a problem ADT may not be able to access your control panel via that route. In addition, your computer is powered by your home, therefore in the event of a blackout you may lose that phone line connection and therefore not be able to transmit any signal at all.

Should anyone require more information regarding how Voip can effect your ADT system please send me a direct email. I have information saved on my computer that I cannot add in a forum due to size constraints.
