My first thought would be interference. After-VoIP-adapter interference. Have you plugged a very simple wired phone directly into the Voip adapter? Has any new equipment been installed at your site recently? Are you running a new electric heater because it's getting cold?
Also, your packet discard number (at 31%) seems a "tad" high. Have you tried other tests with your ISP, rebooting your Internet connection and Voip adapter, etc? |

Well, calling Vonage isn't going to help.
Trace out your phone wiring. Somewhere, I'll bet your lines go past some piece of unshielded equipment that is putting out a pulsing sound. Could be the aforementioned electric heater, if someone just started using one due to the cold weather. Could be a celing light (flourescent) with a ballast that's starting to go (got any lights in the ceiling that aren't as bright as they used to be?). Could be an electric motor. Could be darned near anything.
Of your handset could be defective. Try plugging your simple phone into the same jack as whatever you were using at your desk. If the sound goes away, then your fancier handset is either more sensitive to the new interference or is toast.
Try moving your normal phone to be right near the Vonage adapter and use a very short cable to connect the two. If your nicer handset works, then the line is likely bad. If it doesn't, then the handset is likely bad.
Try to isolate the problem by changing one variable at a time until you can introduce/eliminate the problem by changing only one thing. Then you know the one thing you are changing is most likely the problem.
Good luck. |

What kind of phone were you using before? If it was a 2.4 GHz cordless, you're probably getting interference with your wireless router, and you'll need to replace that phone. |
