Anybody know anything about these area codes? There is over 2.5 Millilon people in these are codes and almost EVERY OTHER Voip has the codes! We have recently begun selling it in our store (We are a regional chain), but it sure is hard convincing people that it's OK to have a Bay Area, Sacramento, or LA area code!
Any ideas? |

One selling point is the toll free number. I can't get a local number in my area code (419) and I seriously doubt I will be able to get one soon. I live in a small town. But I found the savings too irresistible. I have an 800 number that I got through Vonage. Sure, it only has 100 base minutes. But my kids can call home from anywhere. So far I have never used more than 10 minutes.
That won't satisfy everybody. But, if a person is spending serious money on phone bills and want a relible service, here is what I think is the best option. |

I'm still waiting for the 239 area code to become available with Vonage... So far Packet8 is the only Voip outfit I've seen who offers it, but I'm not about to use Packet8. |

Unfortunately, you're paying a lot of extra money to have the 800 number. What would happen if you went to the local POTS company and got phone service from them, and then had the number transferred to Vonage? |

I pay $4.95 per month for the 800 number. If you don't use over 100 minutes incoming then it does not go over $4.95. After 100 minutes it is 4.9 cents per minute. If I ever see a conversation going more than a few minutes I just call the person back.
But this method would not work for a business who depends on the 800 number unless the 4.9 cents per minute is cheaper than other options. It just works for me because we don't use it much. Only my family has the 800 number. Everyone else has to deal with the long distance number, but that is ok with me. I am in such a rural area all calls are just about long distance anyway. |
