Depends on your priorities.
Supposedly, 1.00.59 is coming out soon, with a rumored fix to the static problem (at least the "answer before second ring makes static" issue). So if caller ID is less critical than a clear line (which it darned well would be for me!), you can wait until .59 or whatever the next release is, and try that one out.
I'm running 1.00.59 here, have been for a few weeks... it seems to fix the static on outgoing calls, but NOT on incoming 1st ring calls. They have REDUCED the level of the static when you answer on the 1st ring, but haven't eliminated it yet. 1.00.60 appears to be in the works.
Static on ourgoing calls in .58? Hmm - never run into that one, at least not after they supposedly did some switch maintenance.
Did they give you any hints on when .59 was supposed to come out? I'm still on .58, and the rumor mill had it that .59 was supposed to be this past weekend (of course, we all know how good rumor mills are).
Any problems INTRODUCED by .59, or do things look pretty good from your end?
.59 is dead, .60 entered beta yesterday.

Correction: .60 entered my
Vonage
WRTP54G yesterday. Whether I unwittingly got signed up for a beta program or not is a matter of debate.
Good news is that it seems to work fine. Haven't tested the "answer on first ring causes static" issue yet, and I haven't received any calls since the upgrade so I can't test caller ID, but outgoing calls are clear and nice (did 2 tests to my SIP line)

Well, either way, it's some Darned Good Stuff (tm). No "static on incoming call if answered before Caller ID", in fact no problems whatsoever.
At least on the
Vonage
Voice side. I can't assess any changes to the router side, since my WRTP54G isn't serving as a router.

They are running them at (I think ColdGin said) something like 5000 units an hour. Wait for it...
Or unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. That will sometimes force an update during the provisioning process, or so I understand.

I'm going to hold out and see how long it takes "naturally" to occur. I believe this will be my first firmware upgrade so I'm curious to see how it works when my
Vonage
router is hanging off the back of my main router, behind the firewall and with no ports forwarded.

I just checked my RTP300 and I'm actually at 1.0.55. Do I have to be at 58 to get 60? Is there an update file somewere so I can do it manully?
EDIT: Just got pushed the upgrade while I was on my computer. Caller ID problems seems to be fixed.
