Go with the softphone. That is actually a lot of outgoing minutes (incoming minutes don't count.) You can configure the phones to ring together, and handle voicemail from the same console.
$10 is not bad considering the convenience, and you can easily drop a softphone line when it isn't needed. I use the softphone at home. When I leave the house, I just turn off the phone and run it on my Axim using free hotspots, |

The answer is right in the man's face! To quote Willy Wonka:
"You lose, you get nothing, good day sir, goodbye!"
If you can find in the terms of service where it says that you are entitled to things like SIP passwords, proxy addresses and server IP's, I'll see about getting them to you. |

A softphone account is pretty much pure profit for Vonage. The amount they'd lose by making the softphone unnecessary is much more than they make from the handful of customers who actually choose their service based on its technical merits.
My parents use Vonage, and it works great.
As a college student, I don't really need a phone line. If I eventually do, chances are I'll be skipping right over Vonage to go find a 1337er provider. |
