I've done everything required, at least 8 times, to hook up PAP2 but still don't get a solid blue status light for line one & no tone. Pap2 power is solid blue as well as Ethernet connection. I get Internet access OK. I use DSL with a Westell VersaLink modem/router combo. Anything else I can do? |

Give us more information. What's your complete setup? How are your upload and download speeds? What are the detailed results from www.testyourvoip.com?
You've been through things at least 8 times, so presumably you've cycled power at least that many times. Did you re-power in the correct order? Where did you get the PAP2? Have you registered it with Vonage? |

I have a Linksys wcg200 (wireless G cable gateway) and can not get a phone light on my Linksys PAP2.Everything works fine on my network (2 computers, 3 Tivos, various wireless devices from time to time)Have tried everything including tech suport until call got dropped!Followed instructions to a Tee without any luck.Tried DHCP on and off firewall off, port forwarding etc..I'm not strong on network skills but I can read.Don't know where to turn.Figured I would try my chances here.If anyone can help I will supply more info on request. |

As a test only, can you get a phone light if you plug the PAP-2 directly into your modem, eliminating the router? Power down both modem and PAP-2, plug in the PAP, power up the modem, wait until it connects and you have solid lights, then power up the PAP. |

Another test you should make is to connect only one phone to the phone port (try it without hardwiring to your house wiring if that is your configuration).
If you already have only one phone directly connected, try it with a different phone. Some phones seem to not play nice with Vonage and a different phone might be just be the solution. |

try putting the router modem combo under the left rear tire of your car, then putting it in reverse and crunching it - If you don't want to do that, look at opening ports on it, since its a router modem combo, (my nemeses) it probably has a firewall that needs to be disabled or have ports opened in it.
If you aren't sure, look at the WAN IP address that the Vonage device has. If its' getting a 192.168.x.x address, a router/modem that performs Network Address Translation gave it - not a regular modem. |

BEWARE of the Westel Versajunk... The "router" in there is more for looks than function. It's very good at dropping packets and locking up, but not very good at routing. Other forums (BroadbandReports) have plenty of threads about the nightmare that is the Versajunk. Apparently the modem in them is good, so if you disable the router & wireless on them, they become useful and reliable. A friend of mine has one and it was a nightmare for him until he threw a WRT54GS router behind it and all was well. |
