I am thinking of getting this service, but I have an internal PCI DSL modem. Can I, and if so, how do I setup the Vonage system in this manner?
Thanks for any help!! |

I assume that your internal PCI DSL card has just the one port for the phone line to plug into. If that is correct, then you'd need to add an ethernet port to your computer and configure your computer to share it's internet connection using the new ethernet card. You could then plug the Cisco/Vonage Voip device directly into your computer's ethernet port (you'd have to determine whether you need a cross over cable or a standard CAT5 cable).
In order to use Vonage, your computer would always have to be on.
If you're serious about using Vonage, I'd highly recommend that you upgrade to an external DSL moderm and router. It's really the preferred method for using Vonage. |

Actually, I think you would run into problems doing this. Microsoft's Internet connection sharing renews DHCP VERY often (about every 6 minutes). If your DHCP is renewed while you are on the phone you will be disconnected. If you are not on the phone you might not have Vonage service until your ATA re-registers with the Vonage service.
Vonage says that their service will not work with Internet Connection sharing.

This is correct, you will need to get an external DSL modem. In addition, I would suggest that you order the Router that Vonage sells. They sell it for below the retail cost and it comes preconfigured for their service. |
