Now if Vonage would just stop pushing firmware!!! Every time they push firmware down, it screws up my service. So, as far as I can see, .55 is fine. My rings are no longer short (actually, that was fixed with .52) and my caller id works. Is there a way to prevent firmware pushes? Such as placing the Vonage ata behind my other router?

That probably would not be a good idea. About a month ago, a Vonage 3rd level tech told me that there are more than 80 bugs in the RPT300 and WRTP54G. He said to expect a lot of firmware upgrades.

Based on my past experience, this is par for the course with Linksys routers. It takes a year or two for the firmware to finally become stable.

Unfortunately, not everyone has had the same results with the firmware.

I rec'd .55...must have been yesterday or overnight. Caller ID works but now the voicemail light doesn't come on again...like with .52. But with .52 Caller ID didn't work. Getting a little garlbed with .52 and .55. What is the gain supposed to be with .55 anyway?

Anyone know. I backed up .50 and .55 and thinking about restoring to .50.

Well...I'm having problems with .55. I did a backup of .50 about a week ago. I tried restoring it and it doesn't take.

How do you properly restore the .50 firmware. Isn't it by restoring the .bin file you backup??

With the 1.00.55 firmware in my rtp300, I find that unplugging some of my nortel phones from the house wiring to which my rtp300 is connected to restores callerid functionality. I used to have 3 nortel phones and a panasonic cordless fed by the rtp300 and never noticed a problem with callerid before the 1.00.52 firmware upgrades occurred . But now it only seems to work reliably when there is just 1 nortel set and the panasonic cordless set on the circuit.

I received my RTP300 today. I believe when I first turned it on it had .43 firmware, but it quickly upgraded to .55.

My SSH connections drop using this unit.

Actually, I think .55 was closer to the actual hurricane. (grin)

No. The backup option on the Admin screen only backs up your custom configuration, not the firmware itself.

The only way to change the firmware is to get the binary and then go through a convoluted procedure which involves logging in twice, once as "admin" then again as "user". I won't go through the procedure, since I think that once you flash the 50 firmware, Vonage will just download the 55 version again.

If you want to try it anyway, I'm sure someone on the forum has the 50 firmware to send you.
