PostPosted: Wed Oct 26, 2005 10:21 pm    Post subject: Calls breaking up like a bad cell connection.. Reply with quote Back to top

I am new to Vonage and changed over from bell because a friend loves his and I wanted to save money. Since I changed over it has been problem after problem. I have corrected most of the issues. My current issue that I can't seem to correct and this is causing my phone to be unusable is that my connections sound like a bad cellphone connection, breaking up all the time to the point where you have to yell " I will call you from my cellphone".. I have the Linksys RTP300 and Mediacom cable (that is reliable). I had a wireless router in the mix but have disconnected it to have a basic setup. Can anyone please help\suggest anything, my wife is about to kill me.... I do not want to switch back if I can avoid it. My internet connection is 3MB, and speed test show plenty of bandwidth.

Any help is appreciated..

Please post the following:

1. Your location
2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc)
3. Upload and download speeds
4. Modem make and model
5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RTP300
6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC
7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc
8. DETAILED results from www.testyourvoip.com with a test call to Boston.
9. Phone(s) being used and if you're connected to your house's phone wiring

This will help you get the answers/resolution faster if you can post that first....

The symptoms you've described could be caused by far too many things to give suggestions without knowing more about the setup.
