Government strikes again. 
It turns out that I was charged $2.25:

Now, you may be wondering how I was taxed on nothing, but Vonage did charge me the usual (now) $24.99 for the month...they just credited me $24.99 before it. 
The new regular bill will be $27.24 after those taxes and fees. When I started with what was then Earthlink Unlimited Voice, it was $41.19 a month! |

I have been with Earthlink for 3 years and have no problems with their customer service. When the switch happened, I did recieve the e-mail about the option to go to True Voice or stay on Unlimited and roll over into Vonage. I chose to go with True Voice and had been told that I would need to send back my old equipment and would not be charged any termination fee from Vonage. Well, needless to say, Vonage refused to do this very thing that was agreed apon with Earthlink. It cost me 41.19 to cancel my service with Vonage or continue to be billed $32 a month for a service I did not use. After trying to talk to Vonage for 10 hours one day and having to deal with customer service reps that don't speak a lick of english, I came to the conclusion I made the wiser choice of switch to True Voice. All in all, I have reported Vonage to the Better Business Bureau and don't be surprised if you see in the news that Vonage is being sued for breaking contract agreement. Just to discribe the service I get from EL, I get everything that Vonage says plus the best Customer Service ever. In fact, they pulled money out of their own pocket to help me cover the BS charges that Vonage applied to my card without my approval!! Eat that Vonage! |
