this thread
Image of my dual router configuration I created in paint....
shows the configuration although it was pre RTP300 release.
I have made my RTP300 work as a switch and it does work.
modem <--> WRT54G <--> RTP-300 <-->
1- go to RTP300 config page and turn off firewall and DHCP as stated.
2- cable from RTP300 WAN to RTP LAN
3-cable from your existing router LAN to RTP300 LAN
4-obviously router WAN to cable modem
This configuration now duplicates the picture in CH3MI5TR4NG3R's thread. I should add that DHCP must be turned on on your router. The DHCP server on the router will serve IP addresses out on the router and the RTP300 all in the 192.168.1.x range. You now have 2 ports available on the RTP300 and 3 your router. If you need more a switch can be added to either device.
I will look into this set up.
thanks

Vonage
Tech Support on this one.
What is going on? RTP300 as a switch. There are a lot of threads on this forum. Do a search on TWO ROUTERS
A bit more explanation on what you asked, what the said and your network configuration may help solve the problem.

yeah you asked a question about your device, it was answered, you said thanks, then you start talking about some problem that "they can't figure out what is going on" and you might have to dump

Ok this is what happens.
I use netgear for my router; I have to for the reason of VPN, to different clients so on.
Ok when updating the firmware on an old router I started having issues.
What I had to do is put the
Vonage
modem in front of the firewall in DMZ.
Worked fine, then the problem happened again.
So when call
Vonage
they said I needed a new router, I said ok its old maybe its time to upgrade.
I bought the netgear FVS124g
It as what I need for the next run in netgear systems.
Well setting up
Vonage
ports and so on, all hell breaks loss,
Vonage
see the modem then does not, I upgraded the firmware on the router on the phone with
Vonage
, and they send out the Lynxes, try to set it up does not what to go out on the internet on the phone with support hrs later we have to put back the Motorola.
They do some test and all seems well.
Not we are right back in this mess again.

I would think your best option would be to have it:
[Modem]---[Netgear]----[Vonage adapter]
Set the
Vonage
adapter to a static IP, then forward the ports on the Netgear to the
Vonage
adapter static IP as follows:
* 5060 through 5063 using UDP protocol
* 123 using UDP protocol
* 69 using UDP protocol
* 53 using UDP protocol
* 10,000 through 20,000 using UDP protocol

We did this with the
Vonage
tech so far so good we will see.

I just started with
Vonage
and found it pretty easy to set up. What I did was different from
Vonage
describes and what is shown in the diagrams here, but I think it's better.
Since I wanted the QOS to work, I hooked the WAN side of the RTP300 straight to the cable modem. (I have Time Warner Roadrunner with an RCA cable modem.) The Netgear WGR614v6 router's WAN goes into one of the LAN ports on the RTP300. I gave the WGR614v6 a static IP address (192.168.15.2) and then I configured that address to be the DMZ for the RTP300, so all traffic passes through to it. All the computers (and the wireless) go into the WGR614v6. The DHCP of the WGR614v6 assigns addresses in the 192.168.1.* subnet, so everone knows how to route.
Based on what I've read here, I might try turning off NAT and the firewall on the RTP300, but it works pretty well as it stands.
