I've been switching back and forth between my old Motorola and this new Linksys RTP300.

One thing that is little annoying is intermittently when I dial a phone number with the RTP300 hooked up, the call doesn't go thru. There is a pause for a few seconds and then I get a busy signal.

This same behavior doesn't happen with my Motorola.

Does anyone know the reason behind this with the RTP300? Any solutions?

I can't say I've ever had anything like that happen... and I've put more phone calls on my RTP300 than most people use Vonage for in year. I'm wondering if there's a provisioning problem, as your Motorola works fine. Which firmware version is your RTP300? and what type of phone are you using? Do you have problems when dialing the number manually (and slowly)? In some of the earlier firmware versions, I had difficulty getting the RTP300 to recognize DTMF tones if dialed rapidly, which would produce the exact same results as you're seeing. Haven't seen this problem in the more recent revisions 'though.

I have firmware .52. I'm guessing it is DTMF recognition too.

I have an AT&T 5.8 multihandset phone system.

Is there any way to have Vonage adjust something with the DTMF recognition?

It's totally adjustable, but unfortunately, only by Vonage techs... so give them a call... navigate the phone tree to "Trouble Placing Calls" and that should get you an English-speaking (not Eenwish) level 2 tech in NJ who can adjust it. Before calling them, is there some way to adjust the DTMF length on the AT&T/Vtech 5.8Ghz phone? (they're the exact same company, and usually have a Vtech-branded model & the exact same model in different packaging with an AT&T label slapped on it)

No way of adjusting DTMF. This is AT&T's new EP6962 2-line 5.8Ghz phone system. I haven't seen a Vtech version of this.

Well, looks like you're stuck calling Vonage service then. I've not had an issue with DTMF recognition on my RTP300 with the later firmware revisions, so maybe yours hasn't received the latest firmware, or they've not updated the phone line settings on yours to the current defaults.

FWIW, AT&T doesn't make phones at all. They sold off the AT&T name to V-Tech, so if it says AT&T and is a consumer device, it's a V-Tech design. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it. Good chance that it probably carries the VTech FCC ID# as well. (I think Vtech stuff begins with EW7 in the FCC ID, been awhile since I've checked) The AT&T technology got split up & went to Lucent who focuses primarily on RF and IP-based products, and Avaya who focuses on business telephone systems.
