once you have you Vonage number set up and all is super duper dandy, fowarding your call to another number would take away from you initial minutes if you have either the 24.99 or 14.99 plan which allowes you 500 minutes. |

Yeah, all inbound calls are free as well as toll free but when a call is forwarded it is like you are making the forwarded call. That is the way things are for pretty much any other phone plan I've seen. I would expect the same with Vonage.i |

Wait a minute...Let me see if I got this right.
SO you mean that If I foward my Vonage number to my wife cell number that is local to me, It will be counted towards the 500 minutes of free long distance?
Please say no cause I'm about to crap in my pants

No. If you are on the $14.99 plan where all you get is 500 total minutes period, the forwarded call will count against your minutes. If you are on the $24.99 plan or higher, local regional calls are free and don't matter.
If you forward to a long distance number, only the $34.99 plan is unlimited. The others will use long distance minutes for long distance forwarded calls.
I hope that makes sense. |

There are two kinds of call forwarding. The first type is when your're talking to someone and you want to forward that call to a 3rd party by punching in the call forwarding "service code" (I can never remember what the code is w/o looking up the manual, and I'm too lazy now to try to find that d*** manual). This type of "active" call forwarding does cost you minutes if you're in the 14.99 plan.
The second type of call forwarding is when you use the web page to set up a priori the call forwarding feature to forward all calls to another number when your phone does not get answered in, say, 20 seconds. This type of automatic call forwarding does NOT cost you any minute at all. In fact I've watched my billing window to make sure that the forwarded calls do not cost me anything, and they do not. |

I belive you are mistaken on this point. When I forward calls, they show up as an outbound call from my Vonage number to the destination number. Since I'm on the $24.99 plan and I've only forwarded locally, these are free calls. However if I were on the $14.99 plan, these calls would count towards my 500 minutes. |
