Although I got my Best Buy rebate I just checked on the Vonage portion. Of course I checked at the official site http://web-rebates.com. Now it says my status is that the postmark was too late. It says my postmark was 12/4/2005. Hmmm. I am living in the future. I have sent an e-mail to Vonage saying I have been a big defender of them. Well, if they get this straightened out I will post it here.

While I am saving a lot of money and more than the $50 is worth, I must appologize to those complaining. They are right. If a company promises a rebate then they should deliver. To be fair to Vonage I sent an e-mail which included my username on this forum. I told them I would keep you guys updated on the progress. Now we see the business side. This situation is too bad because their service has been great. But I am a BIG believer in honesty and being straight with people. This incident is TOO fishy.

Now I see it says that I submitted too late at a postmark after 12/4/2005. Still fishy and still wrong. At least I got the Best Buy portion. I took some screenshots. I hope to get them posted so you can see the shots of the webpage. Of course I will have to take out my account number. But, even though I love my service and the money I am saving, it isn't right to those who were promised a rebate. Vonage should make this right!

thats probably Apr 12, 2005..

there are many date formats, one is MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY or even YYYY/MM/DD..

I get screwed up with that all the time, they have a 'Metric date' format, it's one of those i posted, but i dont' know which one, definately a backwards one anyways.. lol..

If it is the date format then I have a big appointment with my friends at Best Buy. The rebate form was printed by their cash register receipt. I have also notified them so they can track it as well. I know they may not care since it is an external rebate, but let's see what they think. I find that the good stores / vendors are usually helpful and can influence a correction. Time to see what Best Buy is made of.

I have the exact same issue with my rebate. I mailed it 3-4 days after making the purchase and got it back 60 days later saying it was post-marked 30 past activation which is completely inaccurate. My e-mails have gone unanswered (complete with screen shots) and I'm going to spend some quality time on the phone with them tomorrow.

This is total nonsense but it is the reason companies use rebates. It is a hope that most people won't fill them out and the rest won't bother to fight for such a small amount. I had a netgear rebate come back on the same day asking for a serial number that doesn't exist.

No more rebates for me.

Well, I can say for my first contact with customer service they delivered immediately on the first day of business. I got an e-mail back today that said they would take care of the rebate and I should see it in 2 weeks. So now I have to say they are way ahead of Verizon and AT&T. I'll let you guys know when the check gets here. Smile But the way things look now they do follow through when asked.

I spoke with the Rebate Center Customer Service today about my MIA rebate that was submitted 6 weeks ago. I spoke with a very nice and helpful agent (no waiting) who gave me his name and ID to be included with the resubmit of the rebate. So far I'm out an additional $0.37, which will be great if they actually process the paper work this time. For the amount of money involved it really isn't worth getting upset but it's hard not to feel cheated when they don't deliver on what was promised.

I stand corrected and have been burned due to not reading the fine print. There is no way I can describe how much I hate rebates and the "gotcha" business practices that are behind them.

I learned a $50 lesson... no more rebates.

Dear Mark McClure,

Thank you for contacting Vonage DigitalVoice.

In response to your email, unfortunately you are not eligible for the rebate. The rebate offer is only valid for new activations. Devices purchased for use on an existing Vonage Direct account are not eligible.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further assistance.

Regards,
Amie

I sent my resubmit in on Monday and went online to check the status, just out of curiosity, figuring it wouldn't be there for a couple of weeks. While there, I played around using misspellings of my last name in the look-up form. Sure enough, they misspelled my last name and my original rebate is there sitting at step 3 - waiting on my service commitment of 60 days - just a week away. I called (got another nice rep with no waiting) and they updated my name correctly and it looks like I should have my rebate in a few weeks. I'll just have to wait and see, but I do feel better knowing they didn't totally throw it away!!
