After your post I called Verizon to confirm the same thing does not happen: Since my billing is on 2 different bills, even though Verizon pulls up my FIoS account by the phone #, the FIoS service stays on. SO, if you decide to upgrade DSL to FIoS and want to shut off the POTS, switch the billing to your credit card.

I just got off the phone with Verizon as well and they worked with me to place a new order for FIOS under a new account and deactivate the old one that was tied to my land line account. This means I have no disruption in service (or so they say), so it should all work out pretty well in the end.
Good tip to switch to credit card billing first though. |

hehe guy down the street has had no fios for 1 1/2 weeks now. Been digging in front of his house and laying new fiber. I think I will wait a while before ordering. I cannot be without telephone service for that long as they work the kinks out. Kinda makes all the christmas lights on the street look like crap with all the barricades. |

Did he have issues with his FIOS and that caused them to dig up his front lawn? Seems odd to be laying new fiber. That must be costly. I was without phone service for maybe a few hours during the LNP transfer, but that's it. |

I seen them ripping up the orange conduit and running new conduit under the road and down the street. Had 2 fiber trucks there splicing fiber the following two days. I am guessing he is the only person on this street with FiOS because there would be a ton of complaints. I think it was installed wrong to begin with. Thats what happens when you hire cheap illegal alians to install fiber optic cable. |

They must have done a really terrible job installing fiber if they have to re-run it. We probably had the same installers in our neighborhood but I haven't seen any problems just yet. |
