oh ok, so that's what they were shooting for in the beta or now that it's a mainstream product?

Cable TV's out FAR more often than electricity in this area. BrightHouse says it's "normal" and "acceptable" amounts... which may be the case in their book...but if it's not working when I'm using it, then it's not acceptable in my book. There's at least 3-5 Tivo record items a month that aren't there (static). Considering most shows I watch are 1 hr long, that's ~3-5 hrs that my cable TV's out. and that's just the times my Tivo's actually recording, which it doesn't do 24/7, so there are likely more outages than that. As far as Vonage goes, I've placed a couple thousand calls, have had 0 fail, even when calling into hurricane-affected zones. There's been a couple of times this year when I couldn't get through on my landline, but Vonage was still able to get the calls through.

I *will* say that Vonage's customer service setup leaves much to be desired, but the past two times I've called them, I've waited less than 10 minutes and these calls were made mid-day, not off-peak times. I realize that there's no use tying up a Level 3 tech with someone who can't figure out where to plug the telephone into the router, but at the same time, I really dislike having to go through the script-readers to get to a real tech. That said, the real techs (Level 3 I guess?) I've spoken with have been very knowledgable and personable. Vonage isn't perfect by any means, but they've been getting it right where it counts (to me, which are reliability and quality of service). Fortunately, it's worked well enough that I've not needed to deal with cusomter service on any regular basis.

I notice in the last 2 months during the day I lost cable 2 times for like an hour but guess what no Vonage at the time either so I still don't understand your point.

You have Naked DSL with Vonage and it never goes down? No RR no Vonage no matter what. I hardly lose Roadrunner but early in the morng on a plan repair which is rare.

You act like BH and power goes off daily here in St. Petersburg, Florida and that is not the case. No idea why you are jumping on me either.

I don't know how tivo works but with BH digital cable box sometimes it will go off and you have to wait for it to reset. This could be do to a blink if power goes off for a sec to no idea why it is reseting.

It takes about 2 mins maybe 5 for the boxes to go from nothing to having the tv back. This could count for you loseing 5 hours of recording times on Tivo. cable box may be slow but RR comes right back on. If it a power issue for a sec I never lose RR because I am on a APC unit. unless after 20 mins I lose phone.

I get 1 call a day if that so if I lose power which is not offen it is not like I will be missing any calls.

Cable TV & internet, at least with the way BrightHouse has it structured in the Tampa Bay area, has no provision for backup power....so any power outage ANYWHERE in the system between you and the cable headend can bring down the connection.

Yep. That's exactly what I'm saying. and I'm streaming audio 24/7, so when something fails, I hear plenty about it from my clients.

Well, going over the logfiles... The last 6 power failures in New Tampa were:
Oct 16 05 - 7:32pm
Oct 12 05 - 7:18pm
Oct 11 05 - 6:46am
Oct 3 05 - 10:45pm
Oct 2 05 - 3:27pm
Oct 1 05 - 12:23am
As far as cable outages, I didn't keep track of them, but I know I marked two programs to be re-recorded because cable TV was out.

I'm running everything on UPS and no cable box. The TiVO's actually SageTV (PC-based), and happens to be on the same 'puter as the streaming encoder, so I'd hear about it if the PC froze or burped. The encoders are straight MPEG-2 encoders and will record whatever they see, irregardless of the content (video or static). I'm not even counting the little momentary interruptions which occur, just the extended outages where I'm seeing entire hours of static on there.

If you're only getting 1 call/day, then reliability wouldn't be as much of an issue/as noticable to you. I'm regularly doing 20 calls a day (I practically live on the phone), so if a phone company burps, I usually hear it. Then there's major screwups like Sprint down in SW Florida, where I lost my phone service for 4 days due to a cut fiber line. Even BrightHouse probably hasn't had that long of an outage, but Sprint's just totally inept.

I am in St. Petersburg and we hardly go down. I can't speak for New Tampa but I don't have issues here with power taken out RR. Maybe a blink here and there but my APC stay on keeping RR running.

I didn't know Verzion offer naked DSL yet. I knew they talked about it. Tampa Electric or Florida power & light is at fault not BH. Progess Engery is pretty good here.

If what Reebok said is true and I will find out BH Voip has a 4 hour backup built in then I don't see an issue with the service. If power does goes off longest is like an hour. Which is rare,

Welp, Bright House strikes again! Watching (or at least trying to) the news channels to see what's happening in Ft. Myers and Bright House keeps cutting out. Way to go BH! and Thank God I'm not using RoadRunner right now. I've been on the phone all morning long.

Well so far my Roadrunner has held up pretty good, even before I had digital phone. Not perfect, but good. It actually outperformed Verizon. And I will do almost anything to stay away from Verizon.

Back to the original question. How do you cancel? You call the credit card company and tell them to no longer pay. That will get their attention. Then you can begin final payment negotiations. That how it worked with Verizon Wireless for me.

Now I have had other problems with a different company charging my credit card online. My credit card company gave me a lot of information and has been very helpful. As you know you can create a temporary credit card number for online purchases. I learned that you can also set up this card number for continual payments to a specific company with limits. Limits by month, total charged etc. Might be something good for the future.

When I had that problem the credit card company changed my credit card number. Wouldn't you know it, all the autopay companies caught on quickly, including Vonage. They will contact you if they can't get the cash.

For now, cancel their credit card payment through your credit card company. They will contact you quickly. Eek Its all about the cash with any company, good or bad.
