OK, my problem isn't the same as many of these other rebate complaints. I fell for what I can only think was a trap.

I bought the adapter -- the rebate was part of my decision. I planned to send everything in ASAP. I noted that I had to sign up fast to qualify, since two of the rebates had to be within 60 days, AND had to include the first month's bill.

After I got the bill, I went through the rebate forms. THEN I noticed that the third rebate form, from Vonage, had to be sent in within 30 days.

So, one form had to be within the 30 days, and two others could not.

First, they waited a long time (didn't check, but prob'ly after the 90 day qualification period), and then they told me that I had missed the deadline. Not only had I realized that (but only as I was filling it out), I even put in a letter acknowledging that.

I called up to see if anything could be done, and reached a rude rep, who simply told me that the deadline was final, and then hung up on me.

So, instead of a happy customer, they now have one who will be sure to pass on a sour experience.

Besides this, I have been having connection issues, but was willing to put up with that (although reluctantly). But with this rudeness and what I consider a rebate trap, I am now ready to start looking for alternatives.

Great customer relations.

Rebates, rebates, rebates. Buyer beware.

It has been posted hundreds of times that you are much better off (for return of equipment reasons also) to order Vonage online via the link on this site (it is free) and you get the free month offer.

Shame on you.

d'oh!

To order it online would've cost $10 shipping plus $30 activation for that free month.

The deal I got had no shipping cost, $60 purchase, a $10 and $50 rebate, plus a $50 rebate from the store (CompUSA). I got that CompUSA $50 plus $10, I just didn't get the $50 from Vonage.

Had I not fallen for their trap, it would've been a significantly better deal. Now I just feel cheated.

A different view of rebates was the store that sold me appliances. I qualified for a rebate, and salesman said that he would watch to see if I could get another.... I got the $100 I sent for, and this week he called me (left a message) that I qualified for another $50, and he had sent in the paperwork.

I had already gotten a good price from him.

Wanna bet that I'll be returning to him, and sending others there? He took the extra step (prob'ly just checks during quiet periods when there are no customers). But that little extra is nice.

In this case, they offered the rebate, but I guess they count on being able to disqualify (or, based on other posts, screw up) many rebates. Not quite the same word of mouth effect as my appliance salesman.

I also don't see a trap here.

It appears that you failed to read ALL of the rebate forms carefully enough to notice this BEFORE the rebate expired.

Exactly...I just can't see how this is Vonage's fault as opposed to buyers fault for not reading all the rebate forms etc...
I love the sense of entitlement people feel some time... Rolling Eyes

All right, I gave you this one, let's say the guy had problem with fine print.

Still, you are fast to condemn a client. I am sure you're are not an owner of a store. Did you ever heard, "Customer is always right". We are talking about a small amount of money here, and this customer is still a customer after all, but not for long as I can see.

Now, all of you guys having fun about his story, please, can you tell us how you got your rebate? Give us your tricks, or tell us how you succeeded to get your rebate and how long it took Vonage to credit your account?

Well appreciate!

Soon, I will post my story still pending with a Vonage agent, and believe I do read fine print very well.

call up customer care, get loud, put a little bass in your voice, drop a few F bombs and most reps will give you the keys to the front door.
