Ive not been able to since my service started, and I am not a network savy person, I just follow the instructions that come with the stuff Surprised

Thanks in advance

BTW, I have a Lynksys router befsr41 4 port
my upload is fine at 256, I just cant get anyone to connect to me ,unlike before I got Vonage when it was never a problem.

Try putting your ATA behind your router. I know Vonage suggests having the ATA inbetween your modem and router, but it works fine behind the router. It will stop the ATA from interfering with your computer's internet connection.

The ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor) is your Vonage device. Before you had Vonage, did you just connect your computer to your cable modem (or DSL) or did you have a router inbetween. I'm guessing you just hooked up direct, since you did not seem to know about a router.

It is likely that the ATA is blocking ports needed by your game. You will have to "forward" these ports in the ATA configuration. I'm sorry, but if this is the problem, then you will have to learn a bit about this networking stuff. It's probably more than anyone can explain in this forum.

Na, I know a little, and I do understand forwarding ports, and stuff.
I have always used a router, because we have 3 PC's.

I just need to kow how to do the ata stuff:)

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

OK. Since you have a router and say you followed Vonage's instructions, then you likely have a setup that looks like:

Modem > ATA > Router > Computers

You could try what works for many people (including me):

Modem > Router > Computers and ATA (where the ATA is plugged into one of the ports on the router just like it's a computer)

See: http://www.vonage.com/installation_multiple_alternate.php

With many routers, this alternative setup is just plug and play. However, if you have intermittant Vonage problems with the alternate setup, you many have to forward certain ports in your router to the ATA. The Vonage web site says which ports:

http://www.vonage.com/installation_port_forwarding.php

By the way, even though they say to forward 10,000-20,000 (in addition to a few other ports), I believe you only have to forward 10,000-10,011 (in addition to the few other ports mentioned on the web site).

Fantastic, I will give this a shot.

Can a moderator or a Vonage Guru sheed more light in this threat regarding placing the ATA after the Router as opposed to in between the modem and router?
