I use Pcanywhere for my clients and also would like to use it for my home PC, problem is I dont have a way to forward ports at my job so I need to use modem to modem, I use it for client's all the time and it works flawlessly, but with my Vonage my Modem (USR external) does connect but gets stuck while connecting. I havent been able to get this to work. I have my cable modem going into my Belkin router and then to the linksys RT31P2 from there to my modem then to phone. Have no Idea why this isnt working correctly. Anyone have any clue or success?

modems almost always will not work with Voip. You may be able to connect at a low baud rate like 9600 but with using PCAnywhere I doubt that the connection will be consistent. You can try dialing *99 before the call to see if that helps or is it #99 cant remember which.

Say what? "almost always will not work"? I've yet to get a failed modem connect over Vonage. That said, I'm running the RTP300, never tried it with an RT31P2. I've been able to connect up to 50k quite regularly with a Lucent Winmodem & a USR Courier modem. Add to that list a couple of credit card dialers, fax machines, and even an alarm system.

I got curious about this and tried my connection using the PAP2. It connects to Netzero dialup at 50.6kbs, which is the same as my BellSouth land-line used to. I don't have any reason to use dial-up, but it was a fun experiment to see if I could! I've also had no problems sending faxes from my computer, so Vonage seems to do just fine with a modem.

I have never gotten dialup to work with Vonage. YMMV faxing sometimes but never dialup ISP. It connects but then I could never browse. Maybe the RT300 is better than the RT31P2

I don't know, but this reply is being sent to you over Netzero and a Vonage line connected to an old Dell laptop with built-in cheapy PC-Tel modem, so it does work, and for browsing sites without heavy graphics, it is actually quite fast. I wouldn't want to be downloading Windows updates or Virus definitions however!! And yes, I've unplugged the ethernet connection before trying this - just in case you were wondering...

Gee, why bother with dialup - you're obviously connected to broadband. GoToMyPC will do everything PCAnywhere will do, only MUCH faster - and it doesn't require any port forwarding on your firewall at work. From the GoToMyPC website:

"Firewall Friendly
Because the GoToMyPC software on the remote computer initiates an outgoing connection, the technology works with your existing firewall and does not require special configuration. Nor does it compromise the integrity of your firewall."

I use GoToMyPC a lot, and the thought of trying to operate a modern Windows machine remotely at dialup speeds is MOST unappetizing.

And seeing that it is a dialup IP, I hope you do not mind me posting that:
Yep, it sure is a dialup: dialup-4.152.63.26.Dial1.Atlanta1.Level3.net
