Hey fellow Vonage people!
I am looking to replace my aging cordless phone and I am reading about the new Uniden UIP1869V that is built for Vonage. I can't seem to find this phone to buy anywhere - does anyone have information on this device?
Or, any general advice/review of other Vonage/VoIP enabled phone systems??
thanks! |

the uniden you speak of won't be available to the general public until around Xmas time. I have been beta testing one for months now, and it's awesome except for 2 things I don't like. You can't wall mount it. And the power supply is freakin' huge. I mean you could build a house out of them if you had enough of them. But the phone and its functions are pretty cool, and you can add handsets as you please. You can upload your own pics and ringtones onto the handset and do intercom and all sorts of other fun things.
Other Vonage enabled phones; there's a Vtech IP800 i think is the model number, I have heard mixed reviews of them. You can only have one phone number associated with that device though - no fax lines here! That phone, the base is the phone adapter/router and you can add other handsets as well. You can't wire other phones to it though, and I have heard horror stories about handsets refusing to register with the base and untis sold with batteries that won't charge. |

thanks for the info Gin. as a matter of fact, I don't mind that its not wall mountable. since its going to sit on my desk anyway, i guess the power supply isn't such of an issue either. anyway, the rest of it sounds amazing and pretty much just what I want.
i'd love to not have to wait until xmas - any chance I can sign on as a beta tester??
I have heard similar stories about the Vtech - I think I'll hold off for the Uniden.
thanks again for the info. |

I too and looking for this model. I called Vonage inquiring about this phone. I was told by the parts department that the this model was still on the "boat" coming to America! He expected them to be arriving in a week to 10 days....check with Amazon.com (they are taking pre-orders) and Vonage. It doesn't seem to be anywhere else....I've searched high and low....no dice yet! I'll bet they show up by the end of the month....just in time to kick off sales for the Christmas season! |

thanks for the post , Larry! this is good news for me.
I went to amazon and they are selling for about $20 less, but nothing in stock yet. amazon does show other stores that have it as well.

Did you guys notice at that one site it said Anonymous Call Rejection on the description of features?! That's news to me!
BTW the phone is still working great, I haven't logged into the router of it for some time but there have been major firmware improvements since I have been beta testing. |

I don't know, aren't they the people who drive around and used to go to Dead shows and now they sell computers and stuff?
