I was excited to arrive home this evening and see that UPS had delivered my new Uniden UIP 1869V from zalmar.com. Had never dealt with them and was nervous the product was vaporware (it still wasn't on the Uniden web site when I placed the order). But it showed up in just a few days. I was pretty excited to open it up!
Let me confirm there are two RJ-11 jacks labelled "Phone1" and "Phone2"
I opened the box, and carefully keeping all packaging intact, read the Quick Setup guide.
I was immediately dismayed. Next to the picture of the "Phone1" and "Phone2" (RJ-11) ports on the Uniden base was a statement, "The Uniden phone system is only associated with line 1."
What??
The manual says "If you have subscribed to a second Voip line you can connect an analog phone or fax machine to Phone2"
All of the product materials (even the text on the box) and led me to believe this was a 2-line phone. It's not! It's just a 1-line phone with a 2-line router built-in.
So, I've asked zalmar.com for a full refund for the phone. Not because I'm fickle, mind you, but because I was led to believe that I was purchasing a 2-line phone, and instead just got a 1-line phone. I'd be better off with my original router (Linksys RTP-300) and a Uniden TRU8866. At least, I think that is a 2-line phone! |

So the manual says you can connect a second phone, or fax to "line 2". What is the problem?
It must obviously be able to support the second line, or fax feature, of Vonage. Isn't that what you want? Sounds like line one is the original line, which you can plug in an additional analog phone to extend that lines capabilities while line two is for a second number or for the fax service (which is also a second number).
Did you actually try hooking it up with a second line, or fax machine on the second line jack or are ou assuming it won't work based on your confusion in regards to the labels? |

I want a true two-line phone. I want to use one cordless handset to answer incoming calls on either line. I want to use one cordless handset and choose either of my Vonage lines to make an outgoing call.
I don't think you read my post carefully. I have no doubt that the router that is built into the phone can support two lines. But the phone itself cannot. That's a problem. |

I would also advise you stay away from zalmar.com. I have emailed them five times since receiving the phone about getting an RMA and have not yet gotten one reply. |
