I would like to state that I have the Linksys RTP300 and just recently had my phone number ported over from Verizon. Needless to say, my only phone service is now with Vonage -- totally disconnected from Verizon. I've hooked up all of my phones to my Vonage line via running a phone line from the RTP300 to a phone jack in the wall. I've got one of the phone lines hooked up my computer's faxmodem port. With Verizon, I would always get consistent 14400 connect rates (with high-speed fax machines) without any problems. Tonight, I sent a fax via my new Vonage line and it worked great! The only difference was it connected at 12000 bps. I sent a 6 page fax without ANY problems!!! Also, I sent it without dialing any special codes or using any special adapters -- just straight phone line to computer and dialing the number directly. I was quite impressed!!!
I hope this information will help anyone else out there who is looking for info on fax support with the RTP300. |

I think there are some other related posts on this website regarding Tivo and Vonage, however, regarding hooking up to another phone jack in another room, I've done that at my house. I ported my number over from Verizon, then once I lost my dialtone with them, I went outside, disconnected myself from Verizon's phone line coming into my house, and then took a phone cord and ran it from my RTP300 to a phone jack in the wall. Voila! Now I have phone service on all of the jacks in my house and they all work without any problems. I don't have Tivo, but I have sent out faxes without any problems. Not sure if this answers your question, but I hope it helps some. |

Yes Sorento......That is the basic hookup for any Voip to work on all phone jacks.......That is not the problem.....I think I will have to go wirless...so Tivo will connect over the net.....I understand that the land lines have a different connect speed plus the Voip does not separate the data from the voice....which will not let it connect over the land line...For what it is worth I understand Insight is using a different type of adapter for their Voip service that separates data from voice and will probably solve the Tivo problem..........Thanks for your reply... |
