I thought I might as well post this on the forum to see if anyone has any suggestions that I haven't tried. I emailed Vonage Thursday night and now 2 days later and I haven't heard from them. Just resent the email.
My network setup: Cable Modem <-- Linksys RT31P2 <-- Dlink 604 Internet Connection: 4MB down and 512KB up
Thursday morning when I went to get online my connection was running extremly slowly. I didn't think much of it as my ISP is usually the cause of that.
When I got home from work I was still having problems with the connection so I did the usual first step and rebooted everything. After that didn't solve anything I removed both of my routers and connected my computer directly to the modem. Connection was working fine while like this. I connected my Dlink 604 back to the modem and connected my computer to it. Everything was working fine. After reconnecting the Linksys router back to the modem and then connecting my Dlink 604 to it and then my computer to the dlink 604 the connection was running really slowly.
That was when I realized the power adapter for the Linksys router was extremly hot. I unplugging that and let it set for a few minutes to cool off. After doing that I can't get the Linksys router to power on. No lights on the front come on I have tried different outlets on the surge protector as well as trying it directly in the wall outlet. Everything else in the surge protector is working fine.
My guess is the power adapter is dead or the router is dead. Does anyone have any suggestions that I haven't tried? Since I just signed up about 5 months ago I would assume that since I got the router directly from Vonage that they should send me a replacement free of charge correct? |

You've done the right troubleshooting, and your conclusion that the Vonage unit and/or its power supply is bad is almost certainly right. However, you should not rely on Email with Vonage. If you have another phone, or can borrow one, call customer support and tell them what has happened. They should replace the Vonage unit for free. |

If they are going to ignore emails from their customers then why even give it as an option to contact them with?
Just got off the phone with customer service. Supposedly I will be getting a RTP300 as a replacement. I hope it has a better user interface than the RT31P2 did, I hated that thing. |

Good point. Are you listening, Vonage? |
