My linksys PAP2 adapter lasted me from april to october. This week it started going through its self test over and over again. The linksys support person I chatted with told me it was a goner so I called Vonage and they're shipping a new adapter (different model) to me right now.

My problem is that they sent me an email telling me that it's going to cost me money:

So basically, I paid 89$ for the pap2 and now I'm going to have to pay 156$ for a new one? I replied to the email asking them about the warranty but they haven't gotten back to me since yesterday. I hope it's a mistake.

I bought the pap2 at Staples Business Depot in canada. 89$ with a 65$ mail-in rebate. Well, since april, I still don't have my 65$. Staples is giving me the runaround of a lifetime. I've had to mail the rebate thingy in, then they made me fax it in one more time and now they say that it's void because you can't send in duplicate rebate claims. They TOLD me to fax it to them again and then they say "oh you send it in twice, it's void" Aargh. I absolutely will never shop there again. The whole rebate departments mandate is to try to get people to give up on getting their money.

I believe you get this back after you send them back your PAP2.. then you will have essentially paid the $89 for the Linksys RTP 300 that they are sending you now, it's wayy beter than a PAP2 anyways..


call Vonage, or e-mail Patti at pr@vonage.ca and ask her nicely, she will help you out and you'll hear a reply within a day (business day, not now that sit's the weekend)..

also, forum member WoW is a Vonage canada rep, he may be able to help you out as well..

Thanks dabones,

I should get my new adapter soon, they sent it this afternoon. If they reimburse me then it's all good I guess. I should just get a cellphone for times like these. A friend suggested that if my phone line goes off I can forward my calls from Vonage to my cell just by logging into my account and setting up the call forwarding. That's kinda cool.

As for Staples, my friend also suggested that I should stick to just purchasing staples from them.

yup, you can manage all your account settings online, the Network Availability Number allows calls to automatically forward if your Vonage or internet conection is down.. and when it comes back up, the calls stop forwarding.

there should hopefully be a return label in that package, if not then you'll have to call/e-mail and get one..

why wouldnt you just go buy an RTp300 from the store.

They didn't charge me for the rtp300 and they didn't want to old pap2 back. So it turned out to be free. I'll just chuck the pap2 and carry on.

Total time to get problem resolved = 7 days.
Frustration levels = Tolerable.

I'd rate my experience positively.
