OK, I HAVE looked for this answer on the forum, but perhaps the situation is not common.

I have one(1) number that I would like to move to Vonage. I would like to use the same number in two(2) locations, a home office during the week, then another office on the weekend.

I have read that the phone adapter IS portable with the number (website), but I have also read that it is not (forums). Which is correct, and is it practical to do so?

Both locations have DSL, one with a wired Linksys, the other with a wireless Linksys router. Assuming I do move the phone adapter (which is really just a router, right?), do I have top replace the existing router in each office to get phone calls? Can I add the router into the chain, and is this practical?

There has got to be a good solution for this problem, and I am counting on the smart people of the forum to offer opinions, hopefully grounded in real world experience.

You can move the phone adapter easliy from location to location and plug it in to each router without any issues. DHCP in both places should make it plug and play.

Well, maybe. Its true that you can move the adapter from place to place, and the number with it. And its true that you can plug the adapter (which is a router, yes) into each of the two routers and it will get an IP address from the router and connect fine. The ONLY issue you could run into is choppy voice or similar problems, due to the existing routers not being able to prioritize the voice traffic well enough. If the wireless router is a WRT54G(S), you can set it up to work well this way. The wired router I'm less sure of - what's the model?

I would just buy two Vonage routers and get two accounts. I know it would be more expensive....27.90 with taxes for each account which would be 55.80 a month. Then you have the main number ex 813-555-1212 assigned to your home office for during the week. Then on the weekend you can have simulring setup on 813-555-1212 to call your remote office # 813-555-1234. So when someone calls your home office it will ring your remote office at the same time. So no matter what office you are at when someone dials 813-555-1212 the telephone will ring. Then you dont have to keep moving the router from office to office Very Happy

Or if you have a simularing you could just set it up to dial a cell phone so when your at your remote office you can use that.
