Having gone through 3 damaging hurricanes last year, I sympathize with those of you in south Florida, and commend
Vonage
and the ISPs for maintaining phone service down there. Nevertheless, I think a mild fit over Caller ID is in order here. It's just been too long, and CID is very important to a lot of people.

I think my caller ID has been down for at least 1 week maybe two. I have tried every power cycle in the book and it is a no go.
Vonage
technical support told me it was a firmware issue and should be resolved soon. That was 5 days ago.

Nope. Caller ID is still hit or miss (mostly miss) and call waiting Caller ID doesn't work either. Of the eight phone drops in the house, I've got 6 phones attached. I read in one of the posts that maybe it could be contributed to a low voltage issue not able to drive that many devices. Next I'm going to unplug a few and see if that changes anything. (But it's worked for 10 years before with SBC so it should work with
Vonage
too)

I noticed that in my house the number of phones on the line and whether or not the ringers were enabled did make a difference. Unfortunately, the difference wasn't consistent, and the CID service remained sporadic.

my experience from yesterday was I called
Vonage
C/S but while waiting on hold for 5-10 minutes, as I was told, I decide to call from my cell and CID/CW worked! After I get runaround and lame excuses from C/S I reboot router- two minutes like recording says- and try again and CID works once. Later in evening two calls come in with CID w/o rebooting. This whole situation is hit or miss.
Question for the techies is why would CID only work once on power cycle?

I just got off the phone with tech support and the guy said that the caller id issue is due to a firmware update that they sent out on 10/13. He said that they should have this fixed early next week.

Yes, that
is
good news. That bad news is that's the same thing the tech told me a week and a half ago...

I know what you mean seeker. I am just glad that they are aware of the issue, know what caused it and are trying to fix it. Hopefully it won't be much longer. I never realized how much I counted on the caller id.

Being without CID would stink.
I've posted this on another thread... I'd hate to say it as I'll probably jinx myself, but my CID, CWCID, CID on forwarded/SimulRing calls to cell, VM, stutter tone, etc. have been working fine 100% with my RTP300 and .52 FW and 3 Uniden Tru88xx sets (no home wiring or custom setttings (DTMF or others) from
Vonage
CS).
Modem -> RTP300 w/ 1 line to Uniden base -> Wireless router with PCs & laptops.
I hope .55 FW corrects it 100% for all of us since the failure is random.
JINX!
