the good news is I got an email that it was resubmitted before I hung up the phone (had to ask about getting an rtp300 Wink and the better news is I just got a confirmation email that it's reactivated already. bad situation, but at least it was quickly corrected.

I am about to buy Vonage - 1st time customer - this 911 issue is a bit UNnerving... would you buy in or wait if you were me - is your 911 issue solved? Have you had many issues like this? Rolling Eyes

who are you asking? and while this instance might be pretty bad, the severity of it is kind of situation dependant. I've never heard of this issue before.
you'll have to make your own decision. try reading through a few pages of threads to get an idea of the service lately. and keep in mind this is generally a complaint board, not a praise board. nor do any of us have crystal balls.

Thanks, Reebok - I'll be watching. God knows I'd love to dump Verizon. Others: Is your 911 issue resolved?

Actually, it is a big worry - to me anyway.

The ones on this forum and the ones checking their dashboard frequently with this problem will notice they will have to reactivate.

The big problem lies where people that were affected by this problem that do not check their dashboard all the time and don't use these forums will have no idea that their 911 information has been "unactivated."

What surprised me is that there was no notification from Vonage that my lines, that have been 911 active for close to a year, suddenly weren't activated.

It sounds like this has hit a good amount of people. It's my recommendation that Vonage look into this and remind users to check the status of their 911 activation both by phone and via the web, as they seem to have been giving conflicting answers.

Williams,
I have not had many issues with this, no. Vonage is usually on the ball when it comes to this stuff.

Honestly, once E911 is deployed with Vonage, Voip w/ E911 will be in my opinion, more reliable in cases of emergencies & disasters than traditional 911 services.

If you have a battery backup on your device I think you'll be good to go. I know I read reports stating that Voip was the last go out during the recent hurricanes - copper & fiber based land lines died out quick, but Voip subsribers had a bigger chunk of time.

So, the answer? It's all relative & a personal decision.

Well, checked my dashboard last night and it is asking me to activate 911. When I try, I get the error message.

Sent an email to CS asking if my 911 was activated or not. Still have not received a response.

You would think that this would have a high priority with them as critical as 911 can be to some people.

If it is that critical, you MIGHT want to pick up the phone and call them, make it high priority on your list... Wink

JK, it's a friday and there is a cold beer around here somewhere with my name on it..Oh look, there it is...
