My friends dad got vonage yesterday, but her mom needs to dial up into the RAS to log into her works terminals and upload and download data. I told him that his traditional phone is gone, and he cant dial up like the POTS. He needs to get the fax line, because he does a lot of faxing. Can she use the fax line to dial up to her RAS?

Thanks

I don't know what a RAS is, but why do you think that his wife can't dial up to it using his Vonage line? If she really can't, then chances are that she wouldn't be able to do it using the fax line either. I suspect that she can- with either.

RAS (Remote Access Server) Modem on a server in a corporate network.
Im not even sure they have tried, but I was talking to him tonight and she works for a small company, which I guess doesnt have a VPN. (virtual Private Network)
Has anyone tries this?
I guess I could give it a shot. I have VPN and dial up access fo rmy work.

Try it. I strongly suspect that it will work.

You have a point, but nothing beats an experiment.

I used to be able to connect to a remote RAS server but over the past few months the modem negotiations cease and I can no longer connect.

Does anyone have any suggestions on "tweaking" my settings?

Thanks,

When I had my old Linksys RT31P2, I couldn't connect to my company's RAS (dial-up modem), but now with with my Linksys RTP300, I consistently connect at 28.8 kbps (be sure to disable call waiting *70 so you don't get knocked off-line) Might give that a try.

Thanks for the tip! I have replaced my old Motorola ATA with a Linksys RTP300 and am using *70. I have set the modem speed down to 9600 Baud, turned off compression and changed a multitude of other modem settings to no avail.

Like I said...It used to work flawlessly and all of the sudden it just stopped???

Add an inline DSL filter...

That seems to resolve most issues
