Well I'm confused now...

Now my QOS is reporting like all the other bandwidth testing sites...

My Results
Download 8,341,616 bps
Upload 653,152 bps
QOS 98%
RTT 51 ms
MaxPause 32 ms

If someone is on the phone while you're running the test...could that affect the report? I'm at work...my wife may have been on the phone when I was testing. And to clarify...I am remotely connecting and testing from my home PC. not testing from my work's internet connection.

Did you a test from www.testyourvoip.com with a test call to Boston, then post the DETAILED results here?

I had a similar problem for a while. After I switched the computers on the network to use static IP addresses instead of drawing from the DHCP on my main router the problem disappeared completely. I don't know why that effected it, but it sure did.

Also, check for time outs using a ping. That was causing a problem once. Open a DOS window and type "Ping www.comcast.net -t" (without the quotes) or some other server. It should just keep pinging and telling you the times. About every 50th or 100th ping it would time out. You would not notice that on regular browsing but it will garble the speech on your end since packets are lost. Comcast finally had to put in a new modem.

hmm I might try that...in my situation though the only device that aquires an IP from the Vonage router via DHCP is my wireless router...because from there all my pc's are connected. I'll still try this as well though.

I was able to ping for over 400 requests or so with no time outs...so that doesn't appear to be an issue.

Looks like setting it to 50 Kbps has resolved the problem...and the voice quality loss is not nearly as noticeable as switching from 90 to 30. Honestly I can barely tell the difference.

50 is perfect!
