I had a brother fax-575 which did not have the ability to change error handling and baud rate, etc.. I was having over 50% failures on outgoing faxes. Some VERY NICE Vonage tech support people tried to get it working. I finally called Brother Tech support who said it would never reliably send faxes on Voip without the options to change the above advanced features. I just bought a Canon L80. Out of the box it works perfectly. I did not have to change anything.
here are my stats on my service Speed test statistics --------------------- Download speed: 4836312 bps Upload speed: 357760 bps Quality of service: 75 % Download test type: socket Upload test type: socket Maximum download pause: 72 ms Average download pause: 3 ms Minimum round trip time to server: 93 ms Average round trip time to server: 129 ms

I have the same problem faxing...I have called customer service 3 times and spent 30 minutes or more on the phone each time. The first two times they finally hung up on me. The third time they did something from their end and I was able to fax that day...today, same problem back again.

I as well as thousands of others have had fax problems and long hours talking with Vonage CS Dept.
*99 plus the fax number is about the only thing that has helped me complete a fax...otherwise, I can't get a fax to work.
Vonage needs to address this issue once and for all....otherwise they need to get out of the fax business. |

Mark, have you changed the settings on your fax machine to make it more compatible with Vonage? You should find the steps to change these items as well as other troubleshooting tips at VoIPFrustration.com
Hope it helps! |

I work for an insurance broker. We send/receive a lot of faxes.
The Vonage fax service has been completely unreliable from day one, causing us much frustration.
We've spent several long sessions with Vonage tech help. No success in fixing the issue.
We had a Panasonic fax machine. We bought a NEW machine (Canon L90) hoping this would remedy the situation. The settings on both are/were fine. Our high-speed cable is fine.
We receive faxes sometimes. Sending faxes is always unsuccessful on the first attempt. Usually on the second attempt. And sometimes on the third. When the fax doesn't send on the 3rd try, (which is very often) I just use our voice/land line to send the fax.
We received an email regarding the Vonage fax class action lawsuit. http://www.bustosfaxsettlement.com/ ... We absolutely filled out the claim form, just on principle, even though the settlement amount is minimal.
We are also switching to a land line for our fax needs. |

Ask to be transferred to the NJ advanced tech support group. They need to make some changes on their end. The guy who helped me is named Scott and everything works fine now. Let's face it, everybody is having fax issues with Vonage; plug those same fax machines into a Verizon line, Voip or copper and it works. It cannot be the fax machines, it's Vonage. The 9600 baud rate is just an excuse. The guys from India who answer first are of no help when it comes to fax issues. |

I don't think that's a fair statement. Faxing over IP has issues regardless of the Voip carrier. You're going analog, digital and back to analog. There are a lot of things that can go wrong there. Something you can always look into is an IP fax machine or an IP faxing service provider. |

Hey, you can try online fax. It's so widespread nowadays, it's cheaper than the fax machine and it's flexible. Popfax.com internet fax service is a really good one and I like it. |
