PostPosted: Tue Oct 11, 2005 8:33 pm    Post subject: Will Vonage charge an activation fee to switch my ATA's? Reply with quote Back to top

I'm swapping ATA's from Linksys RT31P2 to a RTP300-VD because of various issues: background noise etc..that I tried remedying with the "phone off-the-hook" resolution in the second phone port. I just purchased a new rtp300 off eBay and am awaiting for delivery. Anyway, does anyone have 1st hand knowledge if Vonage is going to charge me to swap? Don't they just change the MAC address of the ATA on the account? Or better yet, would anyone have any suggestions to argue to have the fee waived, if one does exists? Thanks guys..Louis Rolling Eyes

I don't know, unfortunately, if there is a fee for that. For anyone else reading this, though, take note that you can ask Vonage to send out an RPT300 to replace your RT31P2 and they will ship it free of charge. All you have to do is mail back the old adapter within 14 days.

they wont' een activate your RTP 300 that you bought on ebay, they will ONLY activate routers that are new, or been on your account previously.. sorry for the bad news..

you'll have to get them to ship you an RTP 300..
btw, there is no fee if you are swicthing adaptors that you bought form vonage.

He says he got a new RPT300-VD, which would indicate it is a new Vonage device. If that's the case, they will activate it. If it is a non-vonage rpt300 or has been used already, they will not.

the "-VD" and "ebay" made me believe this is not a new un-activated vonage device.. if it is new, never-before-activated, vonage, then you're golden..

Aside from the valid debate above regarding the new/used/ebay issue, there is no fee for swaping out a MAC to a new device.

We purchased a pap2 at the source by circuit city (radio shack canada's new name) but it does not work well.

How would we switch to a RPT300? Where would we get one?

Will Vonage Canada swap it for us?
Is there a fee?
