Hi, I read several post on this forum and I have some more questions about Vonage.

1- When we call to the 911 service (after completing the web page with good information) does Vonage transfer us to our local 911 calling center. I am living in Quebec and my children speak only french.

2- Does Vonage offer an french speaking staff for tech support?

3- It is possible to start using the Vonage service with an number provided by Vonage for testing purpose. After several week if all works good, can we proceed to transfert the land phone number to the existing acounts?

4- If I buy the phone adapteur here as future shop and I activate it on the web. If before 30 day I am not fully hapy with the service, can I cancel my accout at Vonage with no fee? (I will return the adaptor to future shop)

5- I aleredy own an phone ATA model SPA-2000 from SIPURA technology. It is compatible with Vonage?

6- I read that 1-800 and meaby 310 phone number will be available for the end of october. Is that right?

thanks for your help...

you will be transfered to your 'Public Safety Answering Point' could be a police station, or other emergency type of number, sometimes they will get a bad number tho, so you'd be best to dial it and check it out after activation..

sorry, but at this time, only English is avail..

if you cancel within 14 days you get your money back from Vonage, (activation fee, etc.) after that you may not get anythign back from them, but they will stop charging you further charges.. you have 30 days for the return at Future Shop, but still only 14 for money-back from Vonage.

not sure about end of october for all numbers, I have a feeling it'll be alot longer than that.. But forum member Oscar (WoW) is a Vonage Canada rep, he says they can get some 800 numbers to work if we report them to Vonage.ca sometimes they are able to get permission to access them from our Vonage lines.

hope that helped.. Smile

There isn't an activation fee if you buy retail and activate. Vonage only charges the first month for the plan you select. There is a $40 activation fee if you add a second line to it. There is also an aditional $13 fee if you change billing plans after activation.

thanks for reply.
In the Area code listing I see that my area code as mention virtual number only. Why? Other Company like Bell Voip, Videotron, etc already have this regional code available.
819 - Quebec - Sherbrooke city

This mean I can't become new customer with primary number at Sherbrooke?? When I will be able to?

Another thing, I read several post on many forum to try to make the good decision about Voip provider. Here on the forum and on the digital Forums, I read many complains about poor customer service... Is that true? Like i am not en very good english speaking, can I have a good fast respond customer support by email?

you should be able to get a Sherbrooke number.. you were prolly on vonage.com not vonage.ca.. if you are on vonage.com then all teh CDN numbers will be listed as "virtual number only" I just was on .ca and it lists it just fine.. try again Smile

the Canadian customer service number has alot less hold times than the US one.. I have never waited for very long when I call..
sometimes the ppl you talk to dont' speak good english either, but with any luck things will go good for you like they have been for me and you wont' need to call them hardly ever..

I don't think they send that out, you'll have to go to bestbuy or future shop and get it.. god thing about that is that you won't have to pay the activation or shipping fee's that are about $60 combined.. and you may get a rebate back too.. lol..

hope this all helps.. Smile
