Dan:
Who cares? I am not hear to praise their market expansion activities. I guess I would be if I was in their marketing department. I just want to know what new features they are going to offer me.
You are a good cheerleader, and I am the cynic (although not typically my character). I'll stick with the Woo-Hoo commericals, these are just tasteless, and the Brits say we are uncivilized! |

I believe this site caters to all who have an interest in Vonage, regardless of what aspect that interest may be in. |

I get all the other ads to work, but the Vonage Healer one always stops about 1/4 the way through. Anyone had trouble? |

I have been a big Vonage proponent over the years, but I am becoming disillusioned because of the preference of market expansion while almost halting feature development. I have been satisfactorily running Vonage over Comcast for about 1.5 years. During that time I have only seen the rollout of 7 digit dialing and C2C. Granted those are good features, but I expected more. I know what features other carriers are releasing and what industry standard application servers and softswitches offer. Vonage is behind the curve as to where the industry is except for customer base. Citron is making the right business decisions, but I am making my decisions based on what I want and need. Unfortunately the two don't collide. Thanks for catching my spelling error. It was late. I still think those ads are stupid. I hope they work. |

I tend to *think* that once Vonage is done with this massive E911 rollout, other features will follow.
I can not envision Vonage applying for various extensions to the E911 deployment (which they have done) while rolling out non critical user features.
At least I would not want to be the one to answer that question in front of the FCC commissioners. (We need more time for the E911 deployment Mr. Commissioner, but have you checked out our new talking Caller ID feature in 17 different languages?...)
Yes, I agree those ads appear to be stupid, but stupid seems to work well for Vonage.

Dan: They already have been asking and receiving extensions. Well, the other carriers. The reason being that the original date was arbitrary and much shorter than wireless carriers had to implement E-911. Vonage has been a leader in E-911. They were trying to work with the RBOC long before the FCC became involved, but the RBOC were dragging their feet. Unfortunately it took a few mishaps before the issue became an FCC priority. I welcome E-911 on my phone. It will put my mind at ease. A few months ago we finally were connected to the PSAP instead of the dispatch number. Now all we have to do is blurt out our address first if we call 911. I agree that E-911 is a priority, but it should not be the only thing that Louis' development team is working. I am sure that they have a release schedule with more than one feature in them. It would be nice if they could create a user's group to share and review the priority of those features. Several carriers and PBX vendors have such groups for their customers. Vonage would be an innovator if they pushed that concept down to the consumer level. This forum would be a great place to have the discussion. Of course the product managers need to be very conservative and keep a close reign on expecations or it could back fire. |
